Prerequisite: Students must have completed Clayworks’ Beginner Pottery Course or receive approval from the studio owner prior to enrolling.
Registration for this course requires an in-person visit to the studio for skill verification unless prior approval has been granted. Once approved, students may complete registration online when enrollment opens.
Course registration announcements are shared through our social media platforms, the Clayworks News section, and our email newsletter. We encourage students to follow and subscribe to stay informed about upcoming sessions and enrollment dates.
Designed for advancing students, this 6-week series focuses on refining technique while expanding form, scale, and complexity. Each session introduces new forms and technical challenges, with intentional overlap to reinforce foundational skills. Because of this structure, no two course sessions are exactly the same.
Students will continue strengthening centering, pulling, and trimming skills while progressing into lidded vessels, altered forms, larger-scale work, and multi-part constructions. Emphasis is placed on precision, consistency, surface development, and glazing refinement.
This course supports ongoing growth, encouraging students to build technical mastery while developing a stronger personal voice in clay.
Optional Add-On: Saturday Open Studio Access
Students may add Saturday Open Studio access (12:00 PM – 6:00 PM) for the duration of their 6-week session for $100.
Open Studio is typically $40 per day, making this a great value for students who want additional practice time outside of class to refine techniques and build confidence independently.
To include Open Studio access, select “Open Studio Access (+$100)” when registering.
Completion of this course at Clayworks is required before enrolling in Intermediate or Advanced courses, unless prior experience is approved by the instructor.
